Terrorist Deemed Insane

In July this year Norway was shaken by a bomb placed in a government building and a shooting at a youth camp. 77 people were killed in these terrorist attacks. His attack needed careful planning. It is said to have been done to try to start a war with islamist and get rid of them in Europe. Now after seeing a psychologist the terrorist Anders Breivik is claimed insane, and is now not likely to face any jail time. The people of Norway are furious and think that he should get a bigger punishment for all the deaths he caused. Unfortunatly some people do not get the punishment they deserve.

Egypt's Historic Vote

After a long year for Egyptians their work has finally paid of. This Monday many of Egypt's citizens flooded into the polls to vote for their president. this will be the first fair election in a long time for the Egyptians, but this didn't happen without hard work. Early this year a group of brave Egyptians came out and protested against the president Mubarak and the government. soon many more followed, and in only a few month Mubarak left office. the protesters were really happy but were not satisfied in the new emergency government and protest again, but now they will finally have a fair government the people get to choose.

POLL: Should Occupy Wall Street End?

70% said yes
30% said no.

after reviewing the results with fellow writer Cailin, we noticed that the general people who said no were teachers, and the people said yes were students. We concluded that it was sort of biased, because the students that go to Severn are generally the 1% that the protests go against, since our parents probably make a fair amount of money considering the cost of going to Severn School. The teachers, although well off, may not be as well off to be with the 1% in the protests. Ironic? I think so.

Possible Stop To Testing on Chimps?

http://www.awf.org/files/3801_file_chimp_Sholley.jpg
It has been reported that the US testing on Chimpanzees in laboratories could be put to a stop in as soon as a year. Personally, I think that from a moral standpoint this is a great thing, since we are closely related to the Chimps. However, since chimps have been very useful in research for creating vaccines for deadly diseases, this may not be as convinient for Science. To me, this also raises the question, "Since something closely related to us such as chimps should not be tourted or killed for our benefit, what about pigs? Aren't we closley related too? Why is it any different than the Chimps?" Some may disagree, saying they are food, but does that make any difference? I know for a fact the killing centers for these pigs can be less than humane.

Review of Book: Of Mice and Men

**Spoiler Alert**
I absolutely adored this book. Although I was a little doubtful in the beginning, as it sort of seemed like one of those books that threw around heavy detail just to seem interesting. However, after the first few pages, I was completely sucked in. I really can see why George shot Lennie, if Curly found Lennie before George, Lennie certainly would have suffered a way worse punishment, probably getting beaten multiple times before actually being killed. It was easy for me to feel bad for Curly's wife, even though she was "trouble" and got in the way of George, Lennie and Candy's plan. I can see why she was so bored with her life, her husband, Curly, was kind of a Jerk, who paraded her around as kind of a trophy, similar to walking around and saying "I may not be really strong, but look, I have a really pretty wife!" Even though he could never find her. The symbolism and detail that Steinbeck used kept me entertained, and although it wasn't assigned, I read the whole book in one sitting. My favorite character had to be Curly's wife, because I thought the way she carried herself, and the story of her past was really interesting. When she was accidentally killed by Lennie, I felt really sad, not just because someone died, but that Curly's wife would never fulfill her dreams of being an actor in movies, although it was really unlikely. Even though we only got a short glimpse of her character through the book, she was possibly one of the most interesting characters for the short time that she actually was involved with George and Lennie.
